Enact FC started off the season with a narrow 12-10 loss to local rivals ITV.
The match got off to a blistering start with ITV scoring 4 quick fire goals without any reply. A few eyebrows were raised in the camp and the lads quickly regathered and pulled up their socks. Some lovely work down the left hand side resulted in a peach of a cross being delivered for an easy tap in at the edge of the box for Liam Adams. It didn’t take long for the lads to regain their composure and after a couple of quick goals from Rameen Rahmani and a silky finish from Jake Charlesworth, the scores were now level at 4-4.
With the wind in their sails, the Enact FC engine was now purring like a 19 plate Jaguar, slick one touch passing and a high press was joyful on the eye however the lads were lacking that all important end product in the final third as multiple chances were squandered. At this stage of the game it was neck and neck, end to end stuff, quality viewing for the neutrals, Jake Charlesworth and Liam Adams netting again in this action packed period.
The goal of the game came from some lovely passing from the defence through midfield and down the left flank again where most of the success came from. Rameen Rahmani held his run and was found with a delightful lofted pass which resulted in a sweet struck volley to the keepers right hand side, smashing into the top corner.
Unfortunately, the high intensity football was not going to last and the fuel in the engine was starting to burn and the Enact lads began to tire. ITV began to sit back and play on the counter attack catching out the defence on numerous occasions to extend their lead. There were a number of quality saves from Jordan Appleby in goal with his hands, feet and even his face! If it wasn’t for Jordan the lead could have been far more superior.
A few late conciliation goals from Josh Cockroft, Rameen Rahmani and Liam Adams brought the score back to a respectable 12-10 but it was all too late, the referee brought a halt to proceedings.
Goals were scored by Rameen Rahmani (4), Liam Adams (3), Jake Charlesworth (2), Josh Cockroft (1).
Team: Jordan Appleby (GK), Ewan Studd, George Briggs, Joe Pevsner, Jake Charlesworth (C), Liam Adams, Josh Cockcroft, Rameen Rahmani.
Overall, a solid first performance from everyone and some fantastic play in parts collectively as a team. Good signs going forward into our next fixture which is to be confirmed shortly.
